Today, I had the privilege of representing the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on Health in Niger State at the flag-off ceremony for the enrollment of vulnerable groups into the Niger State Health Insurance Scheme.
It was an honour to deliver the goodwill message on behalf of the CSOs, where I expressed appreciation to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Niger State, for his unwavering commitment to improving access to quality healthcare. I also acknowledged the remarkable leadership of the Honourable Commissioner for Health, the Executive Secretary of the Niger State Contributory Health Scheme (NiCARE), and the Executive Director of the Niger State Primary Health Care Development Agency for this landmark achievement.
I was equally delighted to recognize the presence and support of Her Excellency, whose commitment to the wellbeing of women, children, and vulnerable populations continues to inspire hope.
This initiative ensures that financial constraints will no longer prevent vulnerable citizens from accessing essential healthcare services. It is a significant step toward reducing out-of-pocket healthcare expenses and advancing Universal Health Coverage in Niger State.
As an MNCH Champion, I also had the opportunity to request an audience with Her Excellency to discuss strengthening maternal, newborn, and child health interventions. I am grateful that she graciously accepted and directed me to her protocol team to arrange a convenient time for further engagement.
I am truly honoured to have represented the health CSO community and to have spoken on behalf of the voiceless. Together, through strong partnerships and sustained commitment, we can reduce maternal mortality, improve health outcomes, and ensure that every resident of Niger State has access to quality basic healthcare within their community.
